Qinwang Po Zhenyue (Prince Qin Breaks Through Enemy Lines), a famous royal dance in Chinese history, originated from a war song, singing in praises of Emperor Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The song was at first very popular among the soldiers, who admire Li Shimin's braveness.
After Li Shimin became an emperor, he adapted the song into a dance. Later, royal artists made it more complicated by adding tones from the Qiuci state. It became sweeter and more agreeable, more exalted with rallying point. In dance, there were large bands of accompaniments, making the dance imposing and magnificent.
Officials of the Tang Dynasty were very excited when watching the dance. Even today, audiences are often touched by it and cannot help dancing and singing to the rhythm.
